Set the proportions
Compare the profile shapes against the scale of the space. Consider the relationship between vertical elements, horizontal lines and the overall height.
Consider every detail
A pergola defines an outdoor area through its frame, rhythm and relationship to the surrounding architecture. Plan the visible WPC profiles and the engineered support together from the outset.
Compare the profile shapes against the scale of the space. Consider the relationship between vertical elements, horizontal lines and the overall height.
Discuss the direction and arrangement of overhead elements with your designer. The layout influences the visual rhythm and the shade pattern.
Plan reinforcement, joints, fixings and foundations before finalising the material schedule. The finished appearance depends on these details too.

From selection to specification
A pergola needs more than a set of profiles. A clear design brief connects the appearance you want with the support and connection details the project requires.
Discuss Your ProjectWPC profile selection does not establish a load-bearing design. A qualified project professional should confirm the structure, reinforcement, spans, foundations and connections for the intended use.
Provide the overall width, depth and height. Mark access routes, furniture zones, nearby buildings and any wall connections.
Identify the foundations and supporting surfaces. Ask your designer to consider site exposure, wind, snow where relevant and any proposed roof covering.
Confirm the supporting structure, reinforcement and connection design. Do not determine allowable spans from a profile name or image.
List profile codes, required lengths, quantities, joint details and the agreed finish. Include allowances for installation and material movement in the approved design.
Designed around your project
Frame a seating or dining area with proportions that suit the garden. Plan circulation and the relationship to planting and paving.
Consider the façade, adjoining doors and the view from inside. Review building connections and site constraints with the project designer.
Start with the way people move, sit and gather. Include lighting, service access and any additional equipment in the structural brief.
Practical answers for choosing pergola and preparing your project enquiry.
This page shows ST100K60, ST160K80, ST200K100 and ST150K150. The first three have rectangular outer sections; ST150K150 has a square outer section. Ask for the current drawings to confirm the dimensions and intended use.
The images show individual WPC profiles. A project quotation should specify the proposed profiles and identify which structural members, reinforcement, connectors, fixings and finishing items are included.
An open pergola layout should not be treated as a waterproof roof. If rain protection is part of the brief, the roof covering, drainage and additional loads need a separate design review.
Do not assume that a WPC profile is a stand-alone structural member. Confirm the proposed load path, reinforcement, support spacing and connections with a qualified project professional and the applicable product information.
Include your preferred arrangement in the enquiry. Freestanding and building-attached designs have different support and connection conditions; feasibility must be reviewed for the site and selected assembly.
Send the location, layout, overall dimensions, preferred profile codes, approximate quantities and intended finish. Include any roof covering, lighting or other additional loads and available structural drawings.
